June Blooms: Rose Quilt Pattern

Welcome to the Quilts in Bloom Series

I’m really excited to introduce June Blooms: Rose, the first pattern in my new Quilts in Bloom series. This collection will feature twelve quilt patterns inspired by the birth flowers of each month, creating a year-long celebration of flowers through fabric and quilting.

The rose, June’s birth flower, is known for it’s timeless beauty and rich symbolism. Roses are often associated with love, appreciation, devotion, and friendship, making them a meaningful choice for quilts created to celebrate special people and occasions. Whether you’re making a baby quilt, a thoughtful gift, or a quilt for your own home, the June Blooms: Rose quilt captures the beauty of this beloved flower in a modern pixel quilt design.

The finished quilt measures 48” x 48” a lap/crib size, making it perfect for cuddling, decorating, gifting and displaying.

Choose the Construction Method That Works for You

One of the things that makes the June Blooms: Rose pattern unique is the flexibility built into the instructions. Every quilter has a preferred way of working, so the pattern includes three different construction methods.

Pixel Cutting is the traditional pixel quilt approach. Individual squares are cut and sewn together to gradually reveal the rose design. Each fabric square represents one pixel. The pattern breaks down the design into 4 × 4 pixel blocks, that are then sewn together to create the finished quilt top.

Group Cutting allows you to cut larger sections of the same fabric at once. Instead of cutting each individual pixel this method combines the same colored pixels into one cut. This reduces seam bulk and is more reminiscent of Traditional quilt piecing.

Hybrid Construction combines the best of both methods, using group cutting for the large background areas while keeping the look and feel of the pixel flower.

Skill Level

The June Blooms: Rose pattern is designed for confident beginners and beyond. If you’re comfortable with sewing basics like cutting, ironing, accurate seam allowances, and working with smaller fabric pieces (2 1/2”), you’ll have the skills needed to complete this project.

This quilt is constructed entirely from squares (pixel cut), or a combination of squares and rectangles (group cut) making it approachable for newer quilters while still offering an engaging project for more experienced makers. To help with organization, fabric and block labels are included. Detailed instructions and diagrams guide you through each step of the process, helping you build confidence as the rose image comes to life.
